@Oxholm said in 24 inch monitor?: So, it’s 2019 and displays have come a long way and I’ve been looking at a lot of posts lately about monitors used. My hope is to create a MM of my own and I prefer about 24 or so for display (without my wallet being empty afterwards). What do I need to look for? IPS, VA? If you have any specific suggestions for a somewhat budget monitor that will do the job I’d be a happy man :) Damm even I am having a similar kind of issue, I have searched all over the internet and even have posted on number of threads on different forum, no solution seems to work. I am really frustrated, can anyone of you here help me resolve this issue, I am very much tired now.

@iosman123 you will see the backlight of the monitor, how much all depend on the glass and the lighting in the room it is placed in. But you will see it.

I’m seeking the thinnest, lightest weight displays that preferably have little to no indentations. (Many screens have a backside buldge or something that doesn’t let them be perfectly flat rectangles.) I don’t have any L x W specifications yet, just looking for the best screen possible for a smart mirror project before limiting to a specific frame size. HDMI input is a must (because I have no idea how else to show content on a screen from a raspberry pi.)

Awesome thanks for sharing the link. I was looking at that case. Since this will be going against an outside wall that can get very hot ( I live in a desert) I need this to be cool.

@Sean said in How do I get the Google AIY Voice HAT installed so that MMM can use it?: @fribse There could be one problem. Your mic and speaker now have same id card 0, device 0 When my module try to close the mic(plughw:0,0) to output sound, the speaker(plughw:0,0) will be closed together at same time, so error will occur. I heard there is a way to assign different id or alias to devices, but don’t know how to do. Ok, so it doesn’t use the subdevices to distinguish them, I guess it’s google here I come :-)

Hi…unless the PSUs are designed to tolerate it, a voltage mismatch (even within the +/- 0.25V tolerance) could destroy one or both PSUs. Just get a decent PSU with adequate output, like the “official” 2.5A, or bigger if required for power-hungry peripherals . printed circuit board

Hi, I have a Pi 3 in a plastic housing and with a fan, running at 46,5 degrees celsius And I have one in an all aluminum housing without a fan, running at 38,5 degrees celsius. It can be the location that makes a difference, but I would say the housing makes the biggest difference. Very pleased with the all aluminum.

The title says it. I have 2 Raspberry Pi 3’s and 2 32" flat screen TVs. I need to find someone who will get the frames and 2 way Plexi or glass. I haven’t done my due diligence on which is a better material for a smart mirror. But I will provide you with the Raspberry Pi and tv if you provide me a frame and 2 way. I figure it’s less hassle than selling the extra items and then sourcing what I need. I will provide pictures and tracking I will also expect that in return. Hopefully we can help each other out and each have everything to build this nifty gadget. https://redtube.onl/ https://beeg.onl/ https://spanktube.vip/spankbang/

Hi to all, I’m building MagicMirror and I’m using Samsung Syncmaster 2494 monitor. When I disassembled it I discovered this “bn96-10836c” Assy Board P Touch which is used to turn on monitor. Without it I can’t turn on monitor. It’s connected with 5 wires to the main board. So do you have any ideas how can use these wires or which I have to connect with a trigger to turn on monitor? I would like to make always on when there is a power cable connected. How did you solve this problem?

@AlejandroV - Just about any screen with an HDMI input can be used. TVs and computer monitors are the screens of choice. You can use a laptop screen, but I believe you have to purchase a controller board to manage the HDMI to screen interface. If you really want to try something different, you could use a projector. :)

I fixed the problem by my self with a new board from Pollin and it works perfect! https://www.pollin.de/p/lvds-interface-pi-mt6820-vga-zu-lvds-810220 It is small and powerful and theoretically it works with all Resolutions the Inverter you can still buy at Aliexpress for your screens! If you need some hints let me know. Best
