I use black construction paper for the areas of my mirrors that are not covered by a monitor. It’s easy to cut into the appropriate shape and I can punch holes through it for things like camera lenses. A piece of construction paper the size of your acrylic/glass can have a cutout the size of your monitor pretty easily. I don’t bother with tape or other adhesive to stick it to the glass. I start with a piece the size of the glass and it doesn’t go anywhere.

hey, maybe it’s possible by replacing the common mirror of infinity mirror by two-way mirror and put your monitor behind ? i don’t know but maybe the infinite effect would be less strong . (sorry if my English is not very good i’m french)

Hi there @broberg and @Sean , I’m Pedro, the Marketing Manager at DISPLAX. We’ve received some contact forms that were referred from the Magic Mirror Forum. First of all, thanks for referring us! Second, DISPLAX provides customised touch foils for any size that you choose (even strange ones), so adapting our touch sensors to any of your mirrors will be a piece of cake. We have appropriate mirror glass that is non-conductive, which is requirement for the PCAP technology. If you feel that you required more information, feel free to contact touch@displax.com Thanks!

Wondering if people release sweeping UI changes all at once or do you feature gate them and slowly deploy components and THEN release? Seems like a dev solution to a design “problem”. Without a super class not sure how you’d feature gate. Also not sure if this even matters but I know that devs are always nervous about stale branches. Why would I worry about stale style branches? Update: NanoPC T4 is a pretty good platform. The graphics aren’t quite what I had hoped. MMM-Globe (the pretty abstract one) isn’t very smooth. I did find that if the screen is in landscape mode it performs better than portrait mode. But even landscape isn’t smooth enough for my tastes. Next round of testing will be with MMM-AssistantMk2 and MMM-Hotword. Oh, and the thing is hot to the touch. It comes with a heatsink and it’s painfully hot after a couple minutes.

I had similar issues, but with a DVI input on a monitor. For me at least the rainbow screen was showing sometimes, but often also not. After tons of different settings in config.txt (which didn’t solve the issue) and different hdmi-dvi cables, I ended up reinstalling Raspbian. After that I got the screen working again. The only thing is that there is no red color on my monitor. Tried different power supplies, cables and certain settings in config.txt, none of them fixed my red color missing issue. But that is another story… Give it a shut to reinstall. Don’ t forget to save data as reinstall is wiping the sd card.

@sdetweil said in Memory effect with MM2: @toucherts every 6 hours it toggles the class used to present the screen. I just made a little module package on github https://github.com/sdetweil/MMM-Anti-Screen-Burn-In OK GOOD

The official Raspberry Pi touchscreen activates a screensaver without documented settings. The screen wakes up when touched. Generally, I would like to keep it that way but I also want to be able to wake up the screen programmatically. If possible, I would also like to tweak the activation time. I know how to turn the backlight on and off and how to dim the screen but does anyone know how to manage this screensaver?

Yes I did search before posting. These IR overlays are designed to work with Samsungs proprietary smart mirror system hence the question as to whether it would be compatible. The question was whether anyone had success implementing magic mirror with these rather than overlays in general

@Pyaar What size frame do you want ? I think the 15-16 inch mirror is very suitable for frames within 30 inches. IPS really much better.

@lorcalhost Are you interested in buying a smart mirror hardware kit? Customize the frame size you need And install the mirror control panel and so on. You just need to install the Raspberry Pi by yourself.

@wrumble you could always buy an acrylic sheet from somwhere like this and then buy the one way mirror film from ebay.
