@toxeek Just to let you know, I am not part of the core MagicMirror team and my answer is based on my personal interpretation of the situation.

I wish you every success! 🚀 I would find it interesting if you could tell us about your project later.

@oldversions You may have better luck asking this question in another forum like Retropie.

While the standard Retropie setup is a full SD image, I’m sure someone there can lead you in the right direction of installing just the emulators you want without the whole front end.

Also take a look at RetroArch. It creates a minimal front end for many emulators, including NES/SNES. You can pick and choose what emulators you want so you don;t need the whole gamut just to play NES/SNES games.

Hi…i was also facing the same issue. So as per my experience you should try one in /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LDXE/autostart but that did not work either. Various googling says the proper way of autostarting scripts in Jessie is systemd but it is overly complicated.

I noticed around the same time that the spammers were causing havoc on the forum that the use of emoticons was disabled. I was hoping they would be enabled again.

    :fingers_crossed:

See? That’s just not the same.

Just to let you guys know. Magic Mirror works on screen with Alexa (she can’t seem to do much at the mo though, so more investigating and experimenting is going to be needed :-))) still running in the background or vice versa. Still can’t seem to add modules to the original magic mirror though, Wunderground and carousel!!!).

    Hi, everyone!!

About over one year ago i found this forum, because i search for infomation about a interesting project i have seen, called MagicMirror. Now I finisched my magic mirror and I like to start a new project. And because that new project I write this. @MichMich I like your skeletal structure behind the MagicMirror.the art of displaying ,one config file to configure and the option to use modules that can config and display. For my new project I like to create that skeletal structure, too

Maybe you can help me a little bit whit information about the creating process.

    greets gismo

    Hi,
I want to display a .gif while the Raspberry is booting up. I tried this guide (https://yingtongli.me/blog/2016/12/21/splash.html) but it didn’t work.
So now I’m trying to solve this with plymouth, but for some reason I can’t even use the default-themes. Even after selecting any plymouth theme nothing changes. I am using Jessie Lite.

So does anyone know a way to display a .gif during the boot-up?

    Thanks!

I was wondering what the community thinks about anti-glare layer on the monitor. People, who have built several mirrors will probably know the difference in the two.
So yeah, is the end result better if there’s an anti-glare layer on the monitor or is it better without one?

Hi, I know that this is an old topic, but I want to tell you, that the Mirror is a really nice tool. It reminds our family to don´t forget important Events, because everyone can edit the calendar.
Also its nice to have some information about the weather.

    And - who don´t want some compliments ;) ?
    Great project!
