@toxeek Just to let you know, I am not part of the core MagicMirror team and my answer is based on my personal interpretation of the situation.

I wish you every success! 🚀 I would find it interesting if you could tell us about your project later.

@juvesito said in Which Pi version is best?:

Hi guys, I’m trying to test with MagicMirror and I bought Raspberry pi 3, but I have question 8)
What is the best version of linux is better for install the MagicMirror ?
RASPBIAN STRETCH WITH DESKTOP or RASPBIAN STRETCH LITE ?

    Thanks in advance !

You didn’t read the post right above yours? LOL

If your heart is set on the Pi then the Pi3 is your best option, with Jessie. More importantly, IMHO, if you MUST use Stretch, DO NOT run rpi-update. You’ve been warned.

SO yeah not a good idea… use Jessie

@broberg said in Mirror Film Visible Light Transmittance Question:

Visible Light Transmission or just light transmission, whatever they want to call it is basically how much of the light it lets through from the other side.

with films you should also find the light reflection number, this will indicate if it would actually work as a mirror or just a shiny metal pot with somewhat of a reflection in it…

Anyhow, the higher number the more you will see of the object behind. 70% is a big no, you will pretty much see everything, even if it’s turned off.
I would suggest 15% or 20%, if the room you are going to place the mirror is bright/really bright, I would go with the higher number. If it’s darker I would go with 15%.

And Have you actually asked any glass businesses if they can order it for you? Most major glass producers have a two-way mirror option.

The room would be a bedroom so average brightness. I have emailed about 10 custom glass and window companies and waiting to here back. The one that did get back to me is $200+ for a 24x36" so its likely out of my budget.

    ?

@barnosch I’m building module-management module with that page. I’d thought it could be good if we have some kind of centralized repository with more detailed and regularized information.

May be a stupid question but does SASS work with MM?

I have a new phone and sync my Snapchat account on it. For the past weeks, I’ve been trying to submit new filters but they kept on rejecting it. Can anyone help me on this? My head hurts…

@lavolp3 said in How to choose the correct Raspberry Pi:

Mykle, I’ve yet only heard that for the MMM-Globe module, which apparently is too much graphics for a Pi3. Is there any other example?
Or are you referring to the load of multiple modules?
I even use a RasPi 2 and - until now - can’t see why it wouldn’t be sufficient.

    See @j.e.f.f’s and @Sean’s answers. :^)

Also, in case you didn’t know, with the advent of the newest version of MM, and its use of Electron 1.7.6, a Pi3 B is virtually unusable. Nevermind a Pi 2 or lower.

    https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/4684/electron-cpu-usage.

I’m not bashing the Pi. I did say, " I think the Pi is fantastic . . .". I’m just saying it has its limitations.

Hello, looking at ways to integrate MM into my home automation set-up and searching out numerous new things to broaden my knowlege, and to piece together something or other that I can work on, and came across this, and wondered what part this has, or could have, within MM? as I see numerous things I can play about with, albeit it is a click based interface that could limit functuality unless one has touch screen?

I’m not at all Linux minded, or fully know the architecture of MM, but I’m very tech minded, and am learning (very slowly) about the MM, Pi, and Linux, so appologies if this is already, wholy, or in part, within the guts of MM.

    @Terrence
No problem mate. Thanks for info as thats gives me a head start to work on as I intended pulling in from my main networked PC that has all my media on it, and far too much music for even the biggest of sd cards :-) so will play about with your settings and see if I can maybe link it to my PC?

    Thanks again.
