@johnnyboy I have sawn out some thin 14x2mm strips of the same material as the box that will be glued around the edges, so the MDF won’t be visible (it’s the wood you can see in the reflection of the mirror).

The first thought was to make the entire frame of it, but once cut of from the board the frame parts warped a lot. :P

Nah, My glass is like 3% light transmission and 57% reflection, so it’s not ideal for bright environments. Have to make everything on the display 40% larger to get readable text.

(my kitchen table is the work bench, the last 2 years I have had my gpz900R engine in pieces laying on top of it :D )

Yes, I had already done that. I did not realize that nodemailer was installed as a dependency at that time into the node_modules folder of the camera module. I thought it was a separate installation. I must have misread the guide. So, thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Now I just have to figure out why it’s not mailing the “selfie” picture that the camera module is taking

I was tempted, at first, to go for the cheaper option of using acrylic… then seen various posts about distortion (fun house mirror effect) and how easily it is to scratch, and not having the same reflection of a real mirror, so did not want to go through all the hard work of setting up everything else, only to be let down by the cheaper option of acrylic… although there will be some that swear by it. - As my dear old Gran always said… Buy cheap, Buy twice!

I never played around with it. Maybe you could add a new user, change the password for user pi and remove write access for standard users for custom.css and config.js ?

@yawns Ahhh perfect - I am going to try that, that should definitely work when implementing on the mirror. But for now I am actually just trying to test this very primitive code to see if it is possible the other way around. I have seen an ajax call needed but am not 100% sure as to where I’d put that in the code or how it would be configured to just run a local python file which outputs nothing but another file.

I really just feel compelled to say a HUGE Thanks to @strawberry-3-141 for his infinite patience with me and helping me to pick up js…

With that being said I’d also like to Thank all the developers for taking their time to help, to teach, to offer such a great opportunity, yes opportunity, for others to be able to have a great product built to their liking in their homes!!

I know myself I get frustrated but it’s with myself and lack of understanding… I push myself hard to learn things because hey life is all about learning [I’m a teacher by education]. Currently I am a contractor and own my own business… I build things, I fix things… that I understand and can do easily like so many of you can just program a small module so easily. You guys are truly amazing.

Short story: I’m making a current movies in the US module … I spent two days racking my brain because as my program parsed through the json file it would error on every other one… I tried to find some exotic fix and strawberry walks up to it… changes one line and BAM just like that LOL
I had to chuckle as I’m sure he did too… “eh rookies”… :)

SO for all the people coming here asking for help or trying to learn we all say Thank you!!!

@jamielola in the node_helper you can execute a python script and then take the data from there to js have a look here https://github.com/paviro/MMM-Facial-Recognition/blob/master/node_helper.js#L11-L31

@broberg Crap, that’s another problem! Now I gotta worry about bulb hours, and burn in, since there’s a good chance that the same info will be in the same places all the time.
