from now on mirror orders in different geometrical forms are possible
I have created a new thread for this so that this information in the existing thread for the orders will not be overlooked. The conditions can be found in the picture below. You will continue to receive all existing edges including geometric shapes polished, if you want.
The orders themselves continue to run on the thread: https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/4816/two-way-community-order-for-europe-open-until-19-november-2017/21

Hi to all,
I’m building MagicMirror and I’m using Samsung Syncmaster 2494 monitor. When I disassembled it I discovered this “bn96-10836c” Assy Board P Touch which is used to turn on monitor. Without it I can’t turn on monitor. It’s connected with 5 wires to the main board. So do you have any ideas how can use these wires or which I have to connect with a trigger to turn on monitor?
I would like to make always on when there is a power cable connected. How did you solve this problem?
Hello, iam new to MagicMirror.
I am going to install Alexa on on my rip, but I am a bit unsure which one, I noticed it was a couple of different once.
And can you recommend any good mic that’s working with Rpi,

@AlejandroV - Just about any screen with an HDMI input can be used. TVs and computer monitors are the screens of choice. You can use a laptop screen, but I believe you have to purchase a controller board to manage the HDMI to screen interface.
If you really want to try something different, you could use a projector.
I fixed the problem by my self with a new board from Pollin and it works perfect!
It is small and powerful and theoretically it works with all Resolutions the Inverter you can still buy at Aliexpress for your screens!
If you need some hints let me know.
I’ve been reading through the forums here for the past few days. I cannot get a consensus whether either of these work with myriad MMM-gesture modules available for my RasPi 3B+ without requiring an Arduino or PC such as is required with the Leap Motion.
I have found posts regarding the Flick Hat, Flick Large, and Skywriter hat, maybe a camera?, and the MMM-Swipe module that uses two 2 HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors, and perhaps the Grove Gesture. Which seems to work best at this time? As it stands right now, the Flick Large seems to be the best candidate.
We’d need swipe left, right, up, down and some mouse-like touch capability would be an added bonus. We’d need the gesture board against the wall below the magic mirror so which one allows for a ribbon cable connection to the raspi which will be mounted behind the mirror?
I can’t seem to determine whether these worked without requiring much technical insight which I don’t possess. I don’t have much programming experience at all and consider myself a novice.
I use black construction paper for the areas of my mirrors that are not covered by a monitor. It’s easy to cut into the appropriate shape and I can punch holes through it for things like camera lenses.
A piece of construction paper the size of your acrylic/glass can have a cutout the size of your monitor pretty easily. I don’t bother with tape or other adhesive to stick it to the glass. I start with a piece the size of the glass and it doesn’t go anywhere.
hey, maybe it’s possible by replacing the common mirror of infinity mirror by two-way mirror and put your monitor behind ? i don’t know but maybe the infinite effect would be less strong .
(sorry if my English is not very good i’m french)
@mumblebaj said in Raspberry Pi 4 Released !:
@dazza120 I assume we dont need all that cooling power just to run the mirror?
no but the Pi 4 is a really hot 🥵 CPU where cooling is most defo needed with heat sink it’s 55 at rest, others have reported it at 66 at rest and in a case at 77 heatsink is a must on this one. The second heatsink is more in line and I was able to bed it fully down with one thermal pad. Installing an update ie firmware took over 5mins on full gig and using 60 to 70% CPU that’s a lot of heat seen as my active cooling solution is only active with the TV on for the most part it will be passive, in the UK at the mo we are having a good summer so it’s hot room temp 25 so bigger the better
Hi there @broberg and @Sean , I’m Pedro, the Marketing Manager at DISPLAX.
We’ve received some contact forms that were referred from the Magic Mirror Forum.
First of all, thanks for referring us!
Second, DISPLAX provides customised touch foils for any size that you choose (even strange ones), so adapting our touch sensors to any of your mirrors will be a piece of cake.
We have appropriate mirror glass that is non-conductive, which is requirement for the PCAP technology.
If you feel that you required more information, feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org

Wondering if people release sweeping UI changes all at once or do you feature gate them and slowly deploy components and THEN release?
Seems like a dev solution to a design “problem”. Without a super class not sure how you’d feature gate. Also not sure if this even matters but I know that devs are always nervous about stale branches. Why would I worry about stale style branches? UC Browser SHAREit
Update: NanoPC T4 is a pretty good platform. The graphics aren’t quite what I had hoped. MMM-Globe (the pretty abstract one) isn’t very smooth. I did find that if the screen is in landscape mode it performs better than portrait mode. But even landscape isn’t smooth enough for my tastes. Next round of testing will be with MMM-AssistantMk2 and MMM-Hotword.
Oh, and the thing is hot to the touch. It comes with a heatsink and it’s painfully hot after a couple minutes.
