Very post ! Can you please share with MM modules you have used ?

First of all - thank you to everyone who created and contributed to this project and to this forum and the various support threads on GitHub. I have a long standing hit-or-miss result when I dabble with this kind of stuff. MagicMirror has been a solid HIT! I found everything so well documented that most of the common issues I ran into had been discussed and solved before. I’ve got two SD cards runnable. I did the first setup over the holidays and stuck with the basics. Time, weather for my location, compliments (that’s a nice touch - I really like that part of this project). I was able to set up several of our local news RSS feeds (only to find out that they all really have the same headlines so I cut back how many feeds I was pulling from). I couldn’t resist the Dad Jokes module and have had many good chuckles thanks to that one already. I then made a second SD, starting from scratch rather than cloning the first…good opportunity to learn deeper. Once I had it at par with the first I proceeded to get MMM-Face-Reco-DNN functioning, identifying four of us in this household and adjusting the mirror accordingly. I’ve JUST got my shop tidied enough that I can get my table saw out to make the frame for the screen and mirror so will post photos of that process. The glass measures about 18” x 25” (vertical) and I used one way mirror film direct from the Amazon with pretty decent success. The cost of the glass and film was less that $30 combined. A true mirror would have cost me $130 locally. I found the screen through Kijiji - a 24” Samsung T240. It wasn’t until I got home that I discovered it was a hybrid HDTV/Display. That’s not ideal actually. It means more weight to the build because of all the TV related stuff. However it may prove valuable down the road in terms of added functionality I may get from having a reversion tuner built into the screen. We’ll see about that. One day. One other downside is the lack of a power brick. This weight again is built into the screen. And it also means a pretty thick cord going up the wall to the mirror. But not deal breakers. I’m super pumped to hang this up and enjoy it. So thanks again for all the help you all didn’t even know you were providing me. I look forward to making more and more of this Magic Mirror. My concern is accessibility for service. Is there access somewhere? Maybe a side profile picture?

@Dropzone1969 Great looking MM, do you mind sharing the config portion of calendar ext2? I can’t seem to get mind working properly.

@lucas781 Looks sick man!!! Are you able to share your config file for just the calendar ext2? I’m a noob and can’t get that module working on mine.

I found this site and all I wanted to do was make a module. I had no prior coding experience at all and learning this stuff at my age was a challenge. Proof that it can be done. If you are enthusiastic enough and willing to work at it, you will be able to code some modules. I asked for help in the beginning. I still ask for help. I write the simplest of modules. When I get in past my safety zone I reach out to a few friends here on the forum. Thankfully, they have been kind and generous with their help. So, if you have questions, ask! If I can help you, I will. That’s how I pay back the kindness shown to me. Peace

Hah I bought 5x of these monitors for work. They shipped me 6…Thinking about using the spare one to do this exact this. (At 80$ A piece on sale couldn’t beat it)

@Babene1 Hi , I try to explain a bit more. Everything is in the wall . I used one Raspberry 4 and an housing with a quit fan on top . On top of the wooden wall is the PIR mounted. Works fine if someone is going from our kitchen to the living room. Both monitors come back in 5 seconds . If I am about 3 meters away the wake up process starts. Perfect for me and my family. The controlling of the screens is a quite „push the Button“ Action . I started to control everything with Alexa , but early in the morning or quite late in the evening I don’t like to talk to much … but in general it also works . Back to the buttons . I use a conbee Zigbee stick in a second Raspi placed in our basement of the house. On this second Raspi the software ioBroker is installed . So if I push the Zigbee button it will send an trigger to the ioBroker via conbee. The ioBroker translates with an program script the Zigbee trigger into an MQTT trigger . This MQTT is uses with the MQTT Bridge in the MagicMirror to push notifications to the MagicMirror … yes quite difficult, but it works fine and the delay is not to big ( Max 0.5 sec.) I also started to test with real wired buttons. The plan was to bore holes in the wood an place a few buttons , but I decided to do in regards of a cleaner view of the wood wall. @boybay7 I’m just starting to gather the pieces to build mine and then I see yours and realize I’ve got to make this look really nice. I’m impressed. Yours looks factory made.

@sdetweil I figured that icon was of some mountains and the sun and not a person.
