Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children. @SpecialRob Pictures certainly are better than words. After all, they take up more disk space.

@yawns Thanks! Yeah that second link seems more or less exactly the same as what I’m trying to do. Looks like it has validated my approach.

This is a carpentry question really and a matter of choice. IF you have glue that is very good like Titebond glue for wood then yes you could glue and clamp it. This is a preferred method for those who do not want screw or nail holes to show…BUT if you don’t get it perfectly square that could be a problem… You could also screw your frame together… or nail. You could also do both…glue and screw/nail it. Any of those combinations would work…

Mine were on the bottom of the bezel, but I would not think it would matter, I took the bezel off so the screen was flat against the mirror so the controls just hang behind the monitor now. The big thing is what way the power and VGA/HDMI face, you dont want them getting in the way.

I did it. Is not my “Main Magic Mirror”, I just made it for fun. I have no mirror, only the simple screen. I have used an IKEA RIBBA triple picture frame, this has fit of the width and needs to be shortened only in length. maybe an another tip is to use a strong power supply with 12V 4A and a converter modul from 12v to 5V than use have only one cable [image: 1493319449326-img_20170427_204909.jpeg] ![1_1493319465100_IMG_20170427_204919.JPG](Lade 4% hoch) [image: 1493319496409-img_20170427_204919.jpeg] [image: 1493319533952-img_20170427_204847.jpeg]

Thought it would be nice to have a central place for anyone looking to order a 2-way mirror in the UK to see where previous UK MM builders have bought theirs from and how it looks. Please include: Supplier (website address/company name) Mirror specification (acrylic/glass, thickness, light percentage) Photograph of the mirror Little review - are you happy with the mirror, is there anything you’d do differently? Cheers!

Hi guys, Have any Australians found a good, cheap supplier for 2-way mirrors in Australia? Or which can be imported into Australia in less than a month? Our client doesn’t want to use mirror film.

You could probably make the remote module send terminal commands and make it alter the wifi connection, but you would probably have to know the ssid of the network, ie no choosing and clicking the network

@johnnyboy There is no break in connection I think, I use this to test the sensor and it says always “Motion detected”. from gpiozero import MotionSensor import time pir = MotionSensor(4) while True: #repeat this forever if pir.motion_detected: # if motion is detected print the message print("Motion detected!") if not pir.motion_detected: # if no motion is detected print the message print("No motion detected!") time.sleep(1)
