Mine were on the bottom of the bezel, but I would not think it would matter, I took the bezel off so the screen was flat against the mirror so the controls just hang behind the monitor now. The big thing is what way the power and VGA/HDMI face, you dont want them getting in the way.

I did it. Is not my “Main Magic Mirror”, I just made it for fun. I have no mirror, only the simple screen. Hi guys, Have any Australians found a good, cheap supplier for 2-way mirrors in Australia? Or which can be imported into Australia in less than a month? Our client doesn’t want to use mirror film.

You could probably make the remote module send terminal commands and make it alter the wifi connection, but you would probably have to know the ssid of the network, ie no choosing and clicking the network

Seems like a good price. I was a bit worried about it being TN panel (they usually have very poor viewing angles), but the website lists it with 170 / 160‎ viewing angle. I think the colors will still be messed up at larger angles, but since MagicMirror is mostly black and white, it doesn’t matter so much. Overall, I haven’t owned a TN panel in years, so I can’t give a certain answer. EDIT: But then again, I don’t live in the USA, so maybe the prices are a bit lower there. 50 € for a used monitor is a quite okay price over here.

Hmm, weird. I figured that if it’s not transmitting, it’s reflecting. Now that I think about it, there’s also absorbing of the light. I suppose it’s not suitable then, thank you very much for the input! :)

Can I use a regular webcam for facial and voice recognition or do I have to use the raspberry pi modules?
