Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children. @laurafox08 yes, those should be fine. no real cpu hogs there. still shorter on memory, so make a bigger swap file like pi3.

@nlq_truc Check the resolution compatibility of your monitor. And change your raspberry pi resolution accordingly.

@sdetweil the installation of the mm is not that hard, but the configuration from all the modules was kind of :/ especially I had rewritten something ^^ I’m trying to get it with an ssd to work, so I don’t have this problem anymore. I will test your script anyways, thank you!

@vongomben I personally think you will end up with an ugly rectangle hole where the monitor is compared to the real mirror surface

@animeman0 there’s too many variables to give you an answer as it depends on there following: is there an angle difference between the monitor and glass across the whole monitor space? What is the lighting like in the area? Where is the lighting in the area? What about natural light in the area? The only wait to know for certain is for you to try it, can you try it without removing the protective film?

@macg I’ve got a version of Option 1. I used a 3-port extension cord and used a child safety cover as a ‘mount’ for the cord. Then there are two outlets on one side - one for the monitor PS and one for the Pi4 PS (which is an Anker 5V/3A wall wart type).[image: 1629483152033-screen-shot-2021-08-20-at-1.08.25-pm.png]

Hello, I’m creating a photo mirror, I’ve been doing some research on the type of mirror to use, I found the reference Pilkington miroview but I don’t know what opacity to choose? Is 50/50 best for this type of project?

@sdetweil Weird. I switched back to a Pi3 and it’s working fine now. Connected it with a HDMI<>HDMI cable to the HDMI Arc port on the TV. The TV instantly popped up with a CEC connected Raspberry. Left it for over a night and just now it perfectly started.
