I had been using MMM-My-Scoreboard fine up until I installed MMM-awesome-alexa.
Now when I include the MMM-awesome-alexa module any where, it changes the formatting of MMM-My-Scoreboard so it is a single horizontal line See here It should be vertical on the left hand side. And indeed when i remove the alexa module from the config file it returns to normal. Also the alexa dot that pops up is in the center of the screen, right over the line that the sports are on, Not at the top ( i dont really care where it is, was just moving it away from the scoreboard. the alexa module is confirmed working.
I’ve got some issues with MMM-Awesome-Alexa at the minute, running on a Pi Model 3 A+ with a ReSpeaker 2 Mic hat.
the Pi is definitely picking up and able to record audio, there are no errors in the console when I launch the mirror, but no sign of Alexa anywhere. I’m not sure where I’m going wrong here, is there something I’ve missed?
@danielnewy If you really want to have alexa voice control and would cost less and wouldn’t take up much time, I suggest you just buy the Qaio Smart Mirror. Easier, Faster, more Convenient. just a piece of my cake. 🙂
I just came across this awesome project. So many cool modules and some top quality builds from looking at the showcases. I’m so impressed by it all and desperate to find the time to build my own smart mirror.
In the meantime, I’d love to get your thoughts on something I’ve already built, which I think should be a perfect use case for a smart mirror:
A voice activated AI personal stylist…
The service is called Able Style and can be found at https://able.style. It is also available on Alexa (“Alexa, enable Able Style”) and Google Assistant (“Ok Google, talk to Able Style”).
Using the service you can ask, “what shall i wear today?” and it’ll give you outfit suggestions based on your local weather forecast and the items in your wardrobe. It’s easy to tell Able which items you have in your wardrobe by either voice or on the website. You can also upload your own outfits via the website.
What I’m wondering is, given there are Alexa and Google Assistant modules already built, is it possible to use Able Style via those services? And if so, do you also get the images shown?
If the answer is no to either of those questions then I guess it’ll need its own module. Tbh, I’d like to build a standalone module for it anyway but it’s less pressing if it’s already fully available via Alexa or GA.
Would be great to know your thoughts and/or requests as the smart mirror experts that you are! 🙂
Are you sure on this? I installed a week ago Alexa on RPi and I linked my Spotify Premium account but I was not able to reproduce anything from Spotify. I think there is some limitation, maybe Amazon allows you to play Spotify only on Amazon Echo devices or SampleApp inside AVS is limited?
Yes @darianbjohnson i second @batfastard I really want Alexa to hide and show modules and for the life of me i am unable to figure out MMM-MirrorMirrorOnTheWall and its corresponding skill…i have gone midway to it where it hears my requests and it tries to do things but no response on the way back to the mirror. Anyhow this would be interesting too
