Hi I have just finished (some final touchup still remains) my first 32" mirror (more in showcase section) and it looks good to have the back panel. I will post photo of back and front panel here once I get some time. – Ashish

I found the mistake. The HDMI cable was defective. I installed a new cable and now it automatically detects the resolution. The display is now correctly rotated.

For Magic Mirror you probably need less than 2 GB of ram, but if you are going to do other projects in the future and have money, buy the one that best suits your budget.

Turning off screen blanking appears to have resolved that issue.

Hi, I bought some cheap speakers from Walmart took them out of there plastic housing and installed them in my mirror. Once I got everything hooked up and installed I am getting an electrical audio feedback from them constantly. Any suggestions to reduce the feedback? The speakers connect to my monitor thru USB for power and 3.5mm for the actual sound. It’s pretty tight mirror setup which probably isn’t the best as the speakers/wiring is pretty close to power connections. Could connecting them to my raspberry pi instead of the monitor possibly help reduce the feed back? Any suggestions of where to start would be much appreciated.

@bhepler Thanks for the feedback. For this first project I do need something quite a bit more reflective so I think I’ll continue the conversation with the glass shop to see what else they can source.

Hi everyone, I don’t know if this is the right place, or even the right website to ask this, but I saw other people asking similar questions about LVDS , so why not give it a shot. Recently, I purchased a “BOE DV332X2M-NV0” square LCD panel for a large MAME cabinet that I am building. The problem I am having is that the LCD panel came with no cables, and the seller is non-responsive to my messages about buying a controller board and power supply specific to this LCD panel. And I cannot find anything online about this LCD panel or anyone else that has bought this specific LCD panel. Here is a link to the exact panel I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/BOE-33-2inch-1920-1920-500nit_1600140870384.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.normal_offer.d_image.717e6c5cNX9Lky I have looked into these “universal LVDS board kits” but all of the sellers say that my panel is not supported and will not help either. So I am hoping that someone here is able to help me out, or at least steer me in the right direction of what to buy. From what I have read from the specs (posted below) it takes a 5V input voltage and has a 92pin connector. I should also mention that the only thing I am trying to do is convert the LVDS over to HDMI or VGA so I can pretty much use it as a computer monitor. Any help with this is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Back then I ordered an android TV box from China but it never arrived so I abandoned the idea. I also need a PIR in combination with a relay. However, I am pretty sure you can run ARMbian from SD card on those boxes. There are plenty of websites and Youtube videos out there. I am confident it works but who knows. I’ll gladly test it once I get my hands on a cheap box.

HI, I’ve got a PI 3B and want to add some light pipes to reveal the PCB LEDs on the frame of my MM. Has anyone successfully done this? The pipes and the external end are easy enough but I can’t work out what I need to sit on / connect to the pcb. Suggestions welcome! Thanks.

@earnestrichards said in Disassembly a Dell U2715H: I had the same question when I started work on my ‘mirror’ earlier this summer. I had purchased a HP monitor and found a link for 3rd party recyclers to properly disassemble and recycle the various monitor parts. I used the same search term (except Dell not HP) and found this: Dell Monitor Disassembly Thank you, 24h after my second email I got a perfect disassembly instruction. Unfortunately, the pdf is to big to upload it here.

@videogame95 - I normally put a travel power strip inside the frame for the mirror. I’ve since started adding external switches that cut the power to the power strip, but you can get by with just using the power strip’s plug. Once you have the power strip in the frame, you can plug in the 3.1 amp adapter into the strip, along with the monitor, LED supply or whatever else you have back there. With some careful shopping, you might find a strip with a USB C plug built into it.
