Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children. It’s a relatively cheap 2560*1440 display.

Hi all! Just wanted you all to know that you CAN actually use an Airtame to display the mirror! If you setup a “serveronly” instance of MM and then point your Airtame’s “Homescreen Backround” to a website and enter the URL to your MM (Server) there. It shows up! Of course you cant have any “touch” functionality and other “intelligence” on the Airtame. But if you just want to display stuff without interaction directly on the device it works great! You can also still use the “MMM-Remote” module to control what’s displayed on the device of course. Or why not MMM-Scheduler… :) I have tried this on an Airtime running with firmware version 3.0.0-b6. Enjoy!

@djphilg I realise your post is about a year old, however, this may still be useful for other people experiencing the same issue. If you have strange colour hues when taking photos then try using a Grey card to set the white balance when setting up at your photobooth event

Resistive touch and capacitive touch will most likely not work. The easiest (and only?) way to get touch is by using IR-frames.

@barnosch Got exactly the same results. Haven’t found any solution to that. I guess the installation is stopped in the middle trying to install electron-chromedriver, so not finished.

Hi, You may have found it, but I ordered mine in Paris, to perucca et peronino: 234, Boulevard Raspail, 75014 PARIS contact@peruccaperonino.com The guy tried to fool me by overpricing the mirror by two, but with a bit of discussed, it went ok. It costed me 115€ for 880x290mm The product name was [Miroir “TV Screen” Ép. 6 MM]. Expensive but very good quality.

With normal MicroSD, use Etcher(https://etcher.io/). Just download the Raspbian image and throw it to Etcher. Nothing could be easier than this.

@Akzariel The RPI 3 has Wifi onboard, so you don’t need a Wifi adapter ! For other components take a look at adafruits.com or the pihut.com, there are a lot off add on components.

@sharmmoh1983 There could be any number of things going on. You have an exercise in trying to narrow down the cause ahead of you. As a test, disable MagicMirror from auto-starting, and just let your Pi run. If the restart still happens, then I’d say you either have a physical problem with the Raspberry Pi (again, check to ensure you’re using a good power supply - minimum 2.5 amps for the Pi 3 – when in doubt, order the official one), or maybe you have something else installed that is causing the issue. If the restart is not observed without MM running, I might start with just the default config and run that for a while to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, then one of the modules you are using is likely the culprit, and you can try adding them back one by one until you see the problem again. Also be sure to check logs (pm2 logs mm) to see if anything was captured before the Pi restarted.
