Yes, I know about Windows 10 portability… What I was thinking of was how to make MM portable. Yes, I figured on node. But, is there anything else I need to figure in? Is there a way to package it (MM) as an exe or msi? Really, I feel like I’m jumping ahead of myself a little, as I have yet to get any type of voice control or interaction (Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana, Watson, etc. Or a combination of some or all) to even work on the Windows MM. That is actually my next problem to conquer. Seems like I’ve figured out how to get any other module to work with Windows except voice. The biggest hurdle I’ve found thus far is utilizing the integrated sound, or external mic and speakers on any and every Windows PC. At this point, I have MM working within the Windows environment on every laptop and desktop and All-In-One I’ve come across. From Win 7, to 8.1 to 10. Except the sound, playback and recording, for running any type of voice control or interaction. To be able to use one device and make changes and tweaks and test modules on, package it on a USB drive and be able to test it on any Windows device, be it a laptop, tablet, or desktop is my ultimate goal. I am also looking at incorporating AI with the voice and a customizable Avatar into the MM. But that is taking me a while to learn. Long term goal, but in the works… Ok, got off subject a little… So, is there a way to install MM on a USB drive and plug it into any Windows device and run it from the USB? For instance, when I use ‘git clone…’ it automatically downloads and installs to the user directory. Is there a way to get everything I do to download and install to the USB drive? But, run (npm start) on the device the USB is plugged into?

@stephenmelody said in sakirtemel/MMM-alexa: @cowboysdude Do you have this working? I’ve been using AlexaPi but it’s not really been that effective. It’s very slow and doesn’t always listen… No I"m not using it but I did install mmm-awesome-alexa :)

Github I recently completed my MagicMirror and was looking into power saving options for when nobody is in the house. there are quite a few options for this but none of them ticked all the boxes. This module hopes to solve this. by using generic brand burglar alarm sensors and a 433Mhz receiver. p.s. The rest of this message is on the wiki page of the module as the post kept being blocked by Akismet.com anti-spam.

MMM-Glance It shows specific module(s) and hides others for some time by notification or commands(MMM-TelegramBot or MMM-Assistant). Just simple. When you use background wallpaper, it is difficult to see the module(s) above the background clearly. You can use this module for focusing specific module(s) for a while. When you have too many modules but some of them don’t need to be shown always, you can reveal hidden module(s) for some time with this. [card:eouia/MMM-Glance]

Hello, I present to you a dull but useful module! It hides (using the module.Hide(); function) all the modules via notifications. I have it set up to use Alex Yak’s voice control (https://github.com/alexyak/voicecontrol). See it in all it’s glory - https://github.com/skarard/sleepr I am doing some development on the Magic Mirror modules as a bit of a project between jobs. Here is the first of many. Big thanks to MichMich for all the work he has done! What a brilliant thing!

Hello everyone I just finished my first module for the MagicMirror. It is a very simple module, it lets you send a HTTP request and not paying attention to the response (other that the status code). If you want you can configure it to be completely “silent” (no alerts) or it can send a notification (e.g. show an alert) when finished. [card:cederstrom/MMM-HTTPRequest] Any feedback is much appreciated!

Hi, i’m a totally beginner and the temperature/ humidity sensor is one of my first modules i want to install by myself. Here is the github link: https://github.com/bernardpletikosa/MMM-DHT-Sensor This were the first things i did: pi@raspberrypi:~ $ cd ~/MagicMirror/modules pi@raspberrypi:~/MagicMirror/modules $ git clone https://github.com/bernardpletikosa/MMM-DHT-Sensor.git Klone nach 'MMM-DHT-Sensor'... remote: Counting objects: 18, done. remote: Total 18 (delta 0), reused 0 (delta 0), pack-reused 18 Entpacke Objekte: 100% (18/18), Fertig. Prüfe Konnektivität... Fertig. pi@raspberrypi:~/MagicMirror/modules $ cd MMM-DHT-Sensor pi@raspberrypi:~/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor $ npm install But then there came these lines: npm WARN prefer global node-gyp@3.6.0 should be installed with -g > rpi-dht-sensor@0.1.1 install /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/rpi-dht-sensor > node-gyp rebuild make: Entering directory '/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/rpi-dht-sensor/build' CC(target) Release/obj.target/node_dht_sensor/src/bcm2835.o CXX(target) Release/obj.target/node_dht_sensor/src/node-dht-sensor.o SOLINK_MODULE(target) Release/obj.target/node_dht_sensor.node COPY Release/node_dht_sensor.node make: Leaving directory '/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/rpi-dht-sensor/build' > Magic-Mirror-Module-DHT-Sensor@1.0.0 postinstall /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor > electron-rebuild -e ../../node_modules/electron-prebuilt An unhandled error occurred inside electron-rebuild Unable to find electron-prebuilt's version number, either install it or specify an explicit version Error: Unable to find electron-prebuilt's version number, either install it or specify an explicit version at _callee$ (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/electron-rebuild/lib/cli.js:74:17) at tryCatch (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/babel-runtime/node_modules/regenerator-runtime/runtime.js:63:40) at GeneratorFunctionPrototype.invoke [as _invoke] (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/babel-runtime/node_modules/regenerator-runtime/runtime.js:337:22) at GeneratorFunctionPrototype.prototype.(anonymous function) [as next] (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/babel-runtime/node_modules/regenerator-runtime/runtime.js:96:21) at GeneratorFunctionPrototype.tryCatcher (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/bluebird/js/release/util.js:16:23) at PromiseSpawn._promiseFulfilled (/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/bluebird/js/release/generators.js:97:49) at /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-DHT-Sensor/node_modules/bluebird/js/release/generators.js:201:15 at Object. @izanbard said in Display modules in a carousel: @PointPubMedia yes you can, but you do it by position. Read the config above and see if you can work out in the positional settings you ignore modules per position. Hint it is between enabled and overrideTransitionInterval. Working fine ;) That’s perfect! thanks mate!
