    @maxbachmann

    Touchfoil doesn’t work beneath the mirrorglass due to the metallic coating.

    Even the mirror supplier that was linked earlier says it has to be an overlay (i.e if you use a foil it should be on another layered glass over the mirror itself)

    Touchfoils are basically a sheet of transparent plastic with many really really thin wires running across the surface. Gives you around 98-99% transparency.

    What modules did you use for weather and commute. You mentioned you list them, but I am missing the list.

    @Mephiston2K We did check before final installation which way round they were supposed to go, because being 50/50 transmission it wasn’t obvious. We spoke to the supplier who assured us we had it mounted correctly.

    @rak It’s run by two Pi’s, one for each monitor, although we used split power supplies so only needed 2 sockets for the Pi’s & monitors.

    Q

    I re-purposed a TV into a Mirror for work. The automatic install failed, except that it did update node.js - which the manual install used when I tried again. Created the default config file, couple of reboots to work out the rotation, removed the now useless base - PRESTO !

    Now to configure it :)

    It will certainly be a talking point for the customers :D

    @emlowe Thanks, but I can’t since I use the 10.1" adafruit display, looking at the pinout it seems there is a way to control it, but I will have to manually wire it to the pi and write up a driver.

    @albertlwj liquid nails… not only waterproof, but a great sealer and will hold just about anything if you let it cure long enough. I always double or triple what the directions say… ie: if says to allow to cure for 24 hours, I would most likely give it 72 hours. Also a good seal has no gaps in the glue strip. And most likely, the heat of the monitor will keep the mirror from fogging over.

    OH… and if I could get a pointer or 2 on how to fix the align-left on the email module… I feel I have tried everything I can think of (which ain’t much to go by these days!!!)

    Hi, this is the pir I am using:
    https://www.tinytronics.nl/shop/nl/sensoren/optisch/ir-pyroelectrische-infrarood-pir-motion-sensor-detector-module-compact
    It is more sensitive than I thought.
    I removed the plastic dome, drilled a hole in the wooden rim of the mirror and mounted the pir.

    @spooke sure u can. I’ve wooden frame as well. I bought this https://www.obchodprodilnu.cz/paska-montazni-pozinkovana-1071.html (sure u can buy it in hobby market for about 5 Euro or somthing like that), cut the piece as the width of your frame (u can use 2 pliers and bow few times) use 2 screws to mount to back side fo frame (use the whole in the metal plate), use 2 screws into the wall and “hang” it like a picture… it works - I can send my pic… Instead of wall-screws u can use hooks…

    Well, for starters, either edit your picture to match your display’s resolution or find another.
