@Egnos Well, I find the price is reasonable. At the time we built our house (4 years ago) sensors and actors for HomeKit accessories were not available, except for switching some outlets or similar. We wanted to retrofit a wireless home automation system, which works reliable and is flexible. Thus, the decision fell on Homematic. There are a few good platforms (open source) to combine various systems with each other, e.g. ioBroker (which I use) or openHub. And yes, MMM-Homematic is the module I have on the mirror.

@sdetweil I did as you suggested and installed the waveshare drivers after loading the desktop the first time, plus a little raspi-config action. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Thank you for your instructions. Unfortunately, this does not work for me. I have a 42 “frame over a 32” monitor. The monitor is only a part of the touch frame area. According to your instructions, no error message appears, but the ratio does not fit in the calibration. Do you have a tip for me here?

Hi all, Need to build α magic mirror for my bathroom and i am a bit on the stuck side regarding h/w needed. I do have a 13.3 monitor out of an old laptop, http://www.panelook.com/B133XW01 V0_AUO_13.3_LCM_overview_441.html I am considering buying a universal controller like this one, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A81-2-PA-V56-V59-Universal-LCD-Driver-Board-DVB-T2-TV-Remote-Controller-3663/143556583408?hash=item216ca39ff0:g:7JoAAOSwcIxeXcrN I have noticed that there are other options as well but since an additional requirement is to drive an 8Ω 10w 6" speaker through this, i believe this is my best bet (it says that its audio output is 2ch 8W) 3 questions, Do i need to buy an additional led backlight driver and if yes will the following do the job? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Backlight-LED-Constant-Current-Board-Driver-Board-12-connecters-LED-Strip-Tes-ns/352821281750?hash=item5225c983d6:g:b8cAAOSw~kBc4iWw It has so many channels and cables that confuses me of which to plug, if any… Is there any other option, simpler-leaner? If you notice on the panelook link at the backlight section, it says that it is “with a led driver”. So does this mean that i do not need an extra driver? Hence, can the monitor just be plugged with the controller and work? Will the controller handle the above spec’d speaker or will i need to install an amplifier as well? thank you very much!

I use the DS18B20 temperature probes a lot so I was really excited to see a module for these. I noticed in the issues that there were a couple of people having problems. I’m happy to say that I found the issues and posted the fix in the issues and this module now works very well. The DS18B20s are great little devices if you want to measure one or more temperatures around the house. I hope this helps others. Glenn.

@thedoorsfanatic Try to find a guide on youtube on how to disassemble a benq monitor. I just googled for “disassebmle benq monitor” and found a few videos on yt. Maybe your model is amongst them.

@Miked180 see my response in the other topic… i wrote a module for using a webcam to control screen… https://github.com/sdetweil/MMM-SleepWake it uses a linux module to detect camera motion sudo apt-get install motion I didn’t want to write and maintain code to interface to an unlimited list of potential cameras… you can also screen capture on movement, or movie record on movement MMM-SleepWake supports tvservice/dpms and module hiding as ways to blank the screen (none of my TVs support dpms, and most of my MM systems are not PIs (which is only where tvservice works)

@MilkShake My Plan was to install Awsome Alexa on the Pi, but as the mic didn‘t work I went the ghetto route and plugged my Echo Dot into one of the USB ports. The USB port powers the Dot and that’s it. I can now use Alexa as usual and installed MMM-AlexaControl to control the mirror. Just works. For audio output, e.g. for YouTube, I use the built-in speakers of the monitor panel. They don‘t sound that great (2W output) but it’s ok for me because I don’t need to run the mirror as a full blown audio system.
