    Hi MagicMirror team, I wanted to share with the community my MagicMirror project featuring a completely custom-built LEGO frame! Hardware Setup: Display: Vertical monitor Computer: Initially Beelink (mini PC), now migrating to Dell OptiPlex D10U System: Ubuntu (Server → Desktop) PIR sensor for automatic screen on/off control via MQTT Implemented Modules: Clock & Calendar (with Italian custom calendar) Weather (Italian weather with hourly and daily forecasts) Compliments (motivational messages) News Feed (Italian news) Automatic screen control via PIR sensor and Node.js Unique Feature: The LEGO frame is completely customizable and modular. It includes: LEGO minifigures on top Colorful decorations on the sides with bricks from various collections Decorative elements (stars, clouds, stickers) Design that perfectly integrates into the home environment Technical Challenges Solved: MQTT integration for PIR control Italian weather modules configuration Optimization for vertical display Power management and automatic screen shutdown The project became not only functional but also a decorative element appreciated by the whole family. The LEGO frame makes the MagicMirror less “techy” and more accessible, especially for children.     Use a Webcam for different modules

    Good morning Friends. I will use a Webcam (Logitech E2500) for different modules. I will use the camera for motion detector and i will use the microphone from the webcam for Alexa. but this thinks will not work. is this a problem in the install-process or is this not working?

    Nice. I added one Vendor for Germany. I did not use them (for now), they were reccomended by glancr.os after several tests. Prices look very fair.

    Camera / PIR behind mirror glass

    I’ve done this very thing using a microwave radar sensor instead. Positioned it behind the glass and used the standard PIR module which works without any additional configuration (just need to tell it the correct GPIO pin as standard). It was a RCWL-0516 sensor and there’s loads on ebay.

    i had a similar issue, connecting RPI with HDMI vs. VGA had different behavior. To get my PIR working the way i want it, i had to use a HDMI->VGA Adapter and connected the display by VGA.     @Alex Hi Alex, I use the Mirona high refelctive grey 6mm. From my site it’s the best mirror for this. I also had a Mirona High refelctive (without grey) but there i had some problems: you see the Display case/frame though the mirror and the reflection was very bad (non existent)… Marcel

    hi there seems to be a company that produces two way mirrors that work with multi touch touch overlays https://www.twowaymirrors.com/smart-mirror/ although I have not tested them But I guess IR Touch frames are the cheapest option Max

The speaker also got a physical volume control. Not really good to hear music, but for alexa and the podcast module it will be absolutely enough. The Audio adapter works out of the box for microphone. To enable speaker port u need to select it in raspberry as standard port.

    @aandrew7 capacitive touch (which is the most commonly used touch tech at the moment) is reading changes in the electromagnetic field of the touch matrix caused by say your finger. This means that ANY material that is conductive will disable the touch functionality. This is why capacitive touch works through glass, wood and paper etc Most mirrors (regular and two-ways) rely on some sort of metal coating to get the reflection properties and this is what disable the capacitive touch. For the diy home user the best way to get touch on a magicmirror is by using IR touch, or something like the airbar, but that has limited functionality at the moment.

Well, it’s certainly possible to run MM on a x86 system. I haven’t a clue about external GPIO usage but it looks promising. For now, I use my mirror for some things and my Alexa for everything else.

    I use the Amazon Fire tablet HD 10 and when I tried to connect with Magic Mirror, it was not working at all because I did not see anything different. I didn’t know if this had something to do with my tablet or it was because of Magic Mirror. So to test, I tried with different tablets of the iPad generations list(I borrowed them from others). Some of them worked while others didn’t.g. Any suggestion?

    My mirror is working with the v2.2.0 MMM but I can’t get the 3.5mm jack to drive my speaker/headphones. I reverted back to raspian OS and it works fine. I haven’t seen any other posts on this.

    I would strongly recommend that you use audio out from the monitor compared to the audio out on the raspberry (it suffers from a lot of signal noise). Using BT makes it digital and you rely more on the hardware of the BT speakers/amp.

    I tried installing MM on tinker board and installed face recognition module but it fails at the point when facial recognition(using opencv) starts, suddenly shuts down the system(i.e tinker board) Cause of this issue is yet not identified. Any help on this will be appreciated

    Depending on the setup, it may actually be easier to have a monitor that’s the same size you’d use for a rectangular MM, and then block the corners off with either a wide frame or drywall if it’s truly inset. From there, you can just use CSS to “bump” modules left, right, up, or down on the screen so they’re positioned right into the curves of the glass. As long as it’s not gonna be changed a whole lot, that might work just fine also…
